This notice announces the opportunity to apply for funding under the Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM) Technical Assistance Center. HRSA/MCHB seeks to expand implementation and reach of AIM program activities by funding the AIM Technical Assistance (TA) Center to support all 50 states, the District of Columbia (D.C.), jurisdictions, U.S. territories, tribal communities,1 and birthing facilities that are participating in the AIM program through the provision of TA to increase birthing facility engagement, support bundle implementation and sustainability, manage reporting and analysis of state AIM data, and promote safe care for pregnant and postpartum people. These efforts are designed to meet the intent of the legislation which is “identifying, developing, or disseminating best practices to improve maternal health care quality and outcomes, improve maternal and infant health, and eliminate preventable maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity”. This TA Center will be one of two components of the AIM Program. The second AIM component will be the HRSA-23-066 AIM Capacity program to support states, capacity to implement AIM and expand the reach, depth, and quality of AIM implementation throughout the United States. For more details, see Program Requirements and Expectations. Program Goal: The goal of this initiative is to improve maternal health and safety in the United States by increasing access to safe, reliable, quality care. Primary Program Objectives: The objectives to be accomplished during the period of performance to support AIM program’s goal include: By August 31, 2027, the AIM TA Center will: • Increase the technical assistance provided to participating AIM states for implementing AIM patient safety bundles; • Increase the number of hospitals and other birthing facility settings implementing patient safety bundles; • Increase the overall number of core bundles being implemented and/or sustained; • Support widespread implementation of the core patient safety bundles, all of which include elements focused on the provision of respectful, equitable, and supportive care; and, • Provide TA to support AIM states in reporting key measures by race and ethnicity, at a minimum, to evaluate disparities.
